Alix,

It was great meeting you. I didn’t think you were rude at all (for sleeping so long). I’m glad you were comfortable enough to let down your guard and truly rest. Travel can really wear a body down.

To answer Eric’s question: The north-shore is still recovering. The areas closest to the lake, of course, are taking longer than other areas. I just drove over the Hwy 11 bridge earlier today, and there are definite signs of progress. Sadly, there are many businesses and homes that are still boarded up, and look totally abandoned. But I’d say Slidell, as a whole, is maybe about 70% recovered.

The plans for my southern trip have just changed.

How are things on the northern edge of the lake? Slidell, etc. I’ve already planned to avoid New Orleans, but should I just avoid the rest of the area as well?

Great writing. But I kept getting lost with no paragraph breaks. It *did* make it all seem more hectic, which is a good thing. Hehe.

Keep going! Hopefully I’ll see you in Seattle.
